Ministry of Interior Promotes Involvement of CommuneSangkat Clerks in Reviewing Voter List and Registration

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Interior has instructed the provincial governors to overlook the performance of the Commune/Sangkat clerks in their role of reviewing the 2022 voter registration list, in line with the set rules, regulations, and procedures.

The Secretary of State for the Ministry of Interior, Sak Setha, stated in a letter to all provincial governors, "Each commune clerk must be present to perform of their duties and responsibilities of examining the voter list and voter registration process in 2022, except when there is other most urgent business."

If a Commune/Sangkat Clerk is unable to perform their duties, the District/Khan Governor shall coordinate and appoint one Municipal/District/Khan Administrative Officer to perform the duties related to the examination of the 2022 voter list and voter registration, on behalf of the Commune/Sangkat Clerk.

"When organizing meetings and training that requires the participation of Commune/Sangkat clerks, the Capital and Provincial Administration must examine the possibility of delaying these meetings so that it does not interfere with the period of review for the 2022 voter list and voter registration,” added the Secretary of State.

The examination period of the 2022 voter list and registration process will last from 20 October 2022 to 8 December 2022.
